BTCA-HEART is dedicated to educating the public about Bedlington Terriers, rescuing those in need and improving the lives of our current and future Bedlingtons.
Rescue is all about helping Bedlingtons who need a new home. Our acting rescue coordinator, Lisa Clarkson, will consider all situations and work in the best interests of the dogs.
BTCA-HEART which includes Bedlington Rescue is for all Bedlingtons. Bedlingtons can enter the BTCA-HEART rescue program from almost any walk of life: lost and turned into a shelter, owner passed away or can no longer care for a dog, a family is separating and is unable to keep their Bedlington - just a few examples.
If the breeder is known, the dog should go back to the breeder, who has life-long responsibility for his/her offspring. However, since breeders cannot be held responsible for the care of the Bedlingtons living with buyers, if a Bedlington comes back from the buyers, in extraordinary circumstances, the breeder can apply to BTCA-HEART for help with medical bills.
Our BTCA-Heart Rescue Coordinator maintains a list of prospective homes via applications that have been submitted. Prospective homes are vetted by references or by home visits.
{Please contact Lisa Clarkson if you wish to adopt a Bedlington in need of a forever home or if you know of one that is to be relinquished to BTCA-HEART. Lisa's contact information is: lclarkson007ATgmailDOTcom or 860-651-4711.
