Thank you Colleen, Glenn, Hayden and Cailin.
You are angels to give Toby the chance for a good, happy life.

In October, 2010 Toby rescue found a loving Forever Home with Colleen and Glenn and their two teenagers, Hayden and Cailin.  He also has a playmate, 8-month old Silvee Bedlington plus another rescued mixed breed who is a senior citizen at 14 1/2 years old.

The Denver Dumb Friends League called Dr. Dennis Corash about Toby.  Toby was picked up and fostered in Denver by Sharon and Ron Kercher and Pam Dickerson and Bob Shahan.  Toby had previously been with a family where the father believed in harsh discipline.  Toby was very afraid of a man standing in his personal space, walking directly toward him or holding a newspaper. It took a special home for this boy and Colleen and Glenn reached out like two angels.

Toby is a loving dog who very much wants normal dog things like dinner, treats and play time.  Toby also needed a family willing and able to help Toby through his fear of men and his abandonment issues.  Colleen and Glenn have big hearts and a lot of compassion.  They have also taught their teenagers to have their same compassion.  They were the perfect fit for Toby.  Toby gets lots of exposure to a man (Glenn) who is consistently kind and understanding enough to work on reprogramming Toby’s response to men.

Toby loves to cuddle.  He wants to cuddle so much that Colleen reports he pushes into Glenn’s chest/lap as if he is trying to get inside his skin.  Toby has been unfailingly happy to cuddle with women.

Toby also loves to be brushed.  He will sit with Glenn and be brushed until Glenn’s arm gives out.  So far, Glenn’s arm has lasted up to an hour.  Toby is testing the limit and hoping for a new personal best record for Glenn’s arm.

Colleen and Glenn had recently gotten their Bedlington, Silvee, who was about 8 months in October.  They had renovated a deck to provide Silvee with a sheltered potty area underneath the deck.  Toby is really appreciating the under-deck area also since he now lives in Canada where the winters can have lots of snow.  This is one dog-friendly house.

Toby was a good boy at Halloween.  As the doorbell rang and goblins and ghouls appeared at the front door, Toby chose to calmly stay in his crate.  The family handled the monsters at the door and Toby was a good little pack dog secure in his knowledge that his pack leader and those higher up on the family hierarchy were protecting him from any untoward outside creatures.

Hayden had an overnight party with several of his male teenage friends.  They were all very thoughtful of Toby and his fear of men.  One of the teenagers was able to get Toby to warm up to him and be petted.  We believe over time that Toby will continue to make progress as he is exposed to more and more thoughtful males who help he realize that  men are kind and loving, just like women.

Toby loves to go for car rides. He is alert and interested in the world around him.

When he first joined this incredible family, he was jealously regarded by Silvee as interfering with the cuddling that she was entitled to.  They have worked through this.  Toby very much wants to play with Silvee.  Here the two are playing together with a tug toy.

Huge thank you to Colleen, Glenn, Hayden and Cailin for providing this sweet little soul, Toby, with a Forever Home where he can have a happy and secure life.
